President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has committed to reclaiming land and including a slipway during harbor development on Faresmaathodaa Island. He committed to this while speaking with the residential community of Faresmaathodaa Island.
Speaking at the meeting, the President stated that the harbor development project would be undertaken in alignment with the people's aspirations. He continued by saying that his Presidential pledge to facilitate housing solutions for the entire population during his term would also address the island community's housing issues. Regarding the request for road development, the President emphasized that road development projects would be initiated in Faresmaathodaa as part of his pledge to carry out road development projects in all cities and significant islands.
In his speech, the President also highlighted the dire economic situation in the Maldives. He added that the Administration had inherited many bills owed to locals that had yet to be paid for various works, totaling MVR 9 billion and MVR 120 billion in debt to foreign entities. He detailed that the economic situation in the Maldives is caused by such unpaid debts and that this Administration would refrain from issuing new banknotes into circulation to repay these debts.
