Minister for Strategic Communications in the President's Office Ibrahim Khaleel has assured that the Government will do everything possible to protect public officials.

The statement was made in response to the attack on Prosecutor General Hussain Shameem earlier today. He was attacked early in the morning by two men while out jogging.

On behalf of the Government, Khaleel told the media today that the Government has strongly condemned the attack on the state Prosecutor General. Therefore, the Government will use all means and options to bring to justice anyone who commits such terrorist and violent acts, he said.

"The security forces will always be vigilant to prevent such dangerous crimes from happening again. They will do everything possible to protect the public officials in responsible positions," Khalil stated.

Khaleel gave assurances that the Government would always seek to uphold national security and peace and wouldn't tolerate any support for terrorist activity.
