Vice President Hussain Mohamed Lateef has stated today that the Parliament today showed an unfriendly scene to the principles of democracy.
Vice President made the statement on X after MDP members rejected some of the ministers appointed to the cabinet today.
In today's session of Parliament, 19 out of 22 Cabinet Ministers from President Dr. Muizzu's government cabinet were approved by the Parliament Members. However, the Parliament voted to deny approval to Housing Minister Dr. Ali Haidar Ahmed, Islamic Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, and Attorney General Ahmed Usham.
Following this, the Vice President wrote, "The Parliament today showed an unfriendly scene to the principles of democracy. Not approving the appointed Ministers hinders the people's decision."
The Vice President said in his post that he hoped Parliament would review the decision.
