In a longstanding tradition, the Saudi government has once again demonstrated its generosity by donating 50 tonnes of dates to the Maldives, in preparation for the holy month of Ramadan.

The agreement for the donation was formalized during a special ceremony held on Wednesday night, where the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, represented the Maldives.

Traditionally, these dates, symbolic of the spirit of Ramadan, were distributed to every household across the Maldives. However, in recent years, the distribution process has been refined, and now focuses primarily on providing dates to those registered as poor and needy within the country.

The donation of dates by Saudi Arabia is a gesture of goodwill and solidarity during the sacred month of Ramadan, symbolizing the importance of sharing blessings and supporting those in need within the global Muslim community.
