The Election Commission is ready to change the date of the Parliamentary elections if the Election Act is changed, says the Vice-President of the Election Commission, Ismail Habeeb.
In a post on X, Habeeb said that if a change in the General Elections Act requires a change in the date of the elections, it will be possible.
The Election Commission has today opened the opportunity for candidates to contest the 20th Parliamentary elections. According to EC, till February 14, candidates can nominate themselves starting today, and application forms will be issued and accepted from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm from Dharubaaruge.
The Parliament elections are scheduled for March 17.
