President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu revealed plans to bolster the Maldives' emergency medical response capabilities by expanding the fleet of air ambulances and introducing helicopters for medical evacuation purposes.

Addressing a campaign rally in Fuvahmulak City, President Muizzu highlighted the significance of enhancing the country's emergency medical services. He noted that previously, individuals requiring urgent medical attention in remote areas had to rely on foreign assistance, with helicopters and Doniers dispatched from abroad to assist.

However, President Muizzu emphasized that the Maldives has now established the capacity to conduct medical evacuations independently, marking a significant milestone in the country's healthcare infrastructure development.

Underlining the achievements made within the first 100 days of his administration, President Muizzu announced the establishment of air ambulance services utilizing seaplanes and Dash aircraft. Moreover, he unveiled plans for further expansion, with the addition of more aircraft and dedicated medical evacuation helicopters scheduled to be introduced before the end of the year.

"With that, we are now standing on our own feet," President Muizzu declared, emphasizing the government's commitment to ensuring timely and efficient emergency medical services for all citizens nationwide.

The expansion of the air ambulance fleet and the introduction of dedicated medical evacuation helicopters underscore the government's proactive approach towards strengthening healthcare services and enhancing emergency response capabilities in the Maldives.
