The Housing Ministry, under the leadership of Minister Dr. Ali Haider, has taken significant strides to ensure the equitable allocation of land to recipients of the Gedhoruveriya Housing Scheme. In a recent development, the ministry has issued documents, endorsed by Dr. Haider, to reassure beneficiaries of their land entitlements.

According to an announcement made today by the Housing Ministry, recipients will receive official documents bearing Dr. Haider's name, which will be accessible through the Housing Portal, facilitating a transparent and streamlined process.

Addressing concerns over unclaimed areas allocated under the previous government's administration, the current government has embarked on dredging initiatives to prepare these lands for allocation, underscoring its commitment to resolving discrepancies in land distribution.

Furthermore, responding to evolving land use plans, the government has decided to reallocate land from Giraavarufalhu to Gulheefalhu. This decision will result in the transfer of 1,347 plots, categorized by acreage, to Gulheefalhu, thereby optimizing land utilization.

Simultaneously, President Dr. Muizzu has pledged to expedite the registration process for all individuals listed on the permanent roster and gazette, ensuring their inclusion in the housing scheme.

Under the previous government's Gedhoruveriya housing scheme, significant strides were made in land allocation, with 1,351 plots earmarked for Hulhumale' and 2,218 plots for Gulheefalhu in the initial phase. Additionally, 5,432 plots of land were allocated from Giravarufalhu, although challenges persist with a slight disparity between eligible beneficiaries and available land. Despite nearing the end of its term, the government initiated the process of land handover and registry as well.

In addition, the second round of the landlord scheme was announced and the list of applicants was gazetted at the last minute.
