Tourism Minister Ibrahim Faisal has announced that the Maldives has achieved 25 percent of its annual tourism target, surpassing expectations with an accelerated pace of arrivals.

In a statement posted on social media platform X, Minister Faisal expressed satisfaction with the progress, highlighting that the country has already welcomed half a million tourists this year, marking a notable increase of 13.6 percent compared to the same period last year.

As of Monday, the total number of tourists arriving in the Maldives has reached 506,015, with an average of 96,238 arrivals per month. This surge in tourism activity underscores the Maldives' growing popularity as a favored destination among travelers.



Statistics reveal that the Maldives now hosts an average of 6,015 tourists daily, with visitors typically spending an average of 8 days on vacation in the picturesque island nation.

China retains its position as the leading source of tourists to the Maldives, followed by Russia and Italy, respectively. With a target of attracting 2.3 million tourists this year, the government remains focused on further enhancing tourism infrastructure and promoting the Maldives as a premier travel destination.

The latest figures reflect a positive trajectory for the Maldives tourism industry, which saw 1,878,543 tourist arrivals in 2023, reaffirming its status as one of the world's most sought-after vacation spots.
