The Maldives Ministry of Climate Change, Environment, and Energy has signed a significant agreement with China Tianying Inc. (CNTY) to enhance collaboration on environmental protection and renewable energy initiatives.

Signed today, the two-year agreement solidifies commitments between the Maldivian government, represented by Minister Tariq Ibrahim, and CNTY, represented by President Cao Debiao. The memorandum underscores the shared goals of enhancing environmental sustainability and promoting renewable energy solutions in the Maldives.

Minister Tariq Ibrahim emphasized the significance of the partnership, noting that CNTY's involvement will span crucial areas including climate change mitigation, water and sewerage management, energy optimization, environmental protection, and the development of low-carbon urban infrastructure.

CNTY, already engaged in similar projects within the Maldives, expressed confidence that the agreement will further strengthen bilateral relations between China and the Maldives. President Cao Debiao highlighted the commitment to contribute industrial and technological expertise towards the social and economic advancement of the Maldives.

As part of the memorandum, CNTY is slated to spearhead capacity-building initiatives for stakeholders and environmental agencies in implementing phases 1 and 2 of the waste-to-energy project in Thilafushi. Additionally, educational programs, workshops, seminars, and internship opportunities focusing on environmental technology will be organized under the partnership to foster knowledge exchange and skill development.

The collaborative efforts outlined in the agreement signify a pivotal step towards advancing sustainable development goals and fortifying the Maldives' resilience against environmental challenges, underlining the commitment of both parties toward a greener future.
