The introduction of the air ambulance will end the delay in transporting patients, said Health Minister Abdullah Khaleel.

In a post on X, the Health Minister said that the delay in transporting critically ill patients to a tertiary-level hospital for various reasons has been an issue that needs to be addressed. He also said that the people of Maldives have been asking for a solution to it for a long time.

Minister wrote on X that "from the first day of his administration, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has started working to find a complete solution for the issue. With Allah's will, the air ambulance service will be introduced on March 1 per the President's vision, and the delay in transporting patients will end." (Loosely translated)

The government has also changed the rules to include priority for emergency medical emergencies.

Most patients brought to Male' by Aasandha Insurance for treatment are flown by Maldivian. Three emergency charter flights were flown in the last 24 hours as well.
