President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated last night that he must win the MDP presidential primary to promote education and build a new generation in the country.

Speaking at the campaign rally held in N. Velidhoo last night, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih said his government has done a lot to develop people and as such had done a lot of work in the education sector to create a new, dutiful generation.

The President stated that 1570 classrooms have been built in different parts of the country under the efforts made to develop the educational infrastructure. And that 80 multi-purpose halls built by this government have been completed and put into use.

In addition, the President said that the government has constructed 509 buildings with staff rooms needed by schools and offices for the employees.

President Solih said that even now 16,000 students are studying under the government's free degree programme. And that 6519 students have completed their first degree and are working towards higher levels.

"Do we want these things to come to a halt again, or not? This is the question before us today. We have no guarantee that this can continue without a government like this, history bears witness to that. So to develop education in Maldives and to build a new generation, we should win this primary," said President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
