The PPM-PNC coalition has issued a statement clarifying that the opinions expressed by individuals within the party do not necessarily reflect the official policies of the coalition.

This announcement follows remarks made by a member during a campaign event for Hinnavaru constituency candidate Mohamed Abdul Rahman, where it was suggested that the PNC candidate for Hinnavaru constituency should have authority over the employees of MIFCO's fish factory in Felivaru.

In the statement released tonight, the coalition emphasized that individual opinions do not represent the overarching policies of the party. It reaffirmed President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's commitment to conducting political activities within the principles of democracy and ensuring equal participation for all members.

Furthermore, the coalition stated that it does not endorse practices from the former government, such as dismissing individuals from their jobs or resorting to intimidation and arrests against political activists. Instead, the coalition aims to garner the support of the people through attentive listening and by implementing development initiatives that align with public aspirations.

Meanwhile, the Opposition MDP has strongly condemned the remarks made by the PNC member at the Hinnavaru campaign event and has urged the Election Commission to investigate the matter further.
