The Maldives has attracted half a million tourists so far this year.

According to data released by the Ministry of Tourism, a total of 506,015 tourists have graced the shores of Maldives since the beginning of the year. This figure marks a significant increase of 13.6 percent compared to the same period last year when 445,625 tourists visited the Maldives.

In the current month alone, 96,238 tourists have arrived in the Maldives, further bolstering the tourism sector's robust performance. Last month witnessed a surge in tourist arrivals, with the number surpassing 217,000 visitors.

The statistics paint a picture of a thriving tourism industry in the Maldives, with an average of 6,015 tourists arriving daily and spending an average of 8 days exploring the idyllic island paradise.

China retains its position as the leading source of tourists for the Maldives, followed closely by Russia in second place and Italy in third. The government's ambitious target of attracting 2.3 million tourists this year appears well within reach, given the current growth trajectory of the tourism sector.

In 2023, the Maldives welcomed a total of 1,878,543 tourists, according to data from Maldives Immigration.
