MDP President Abdullah Shahid has addressed criticism leveled against him by MDP Parliament member for Thinadhoo Central constituency, Abdullah Saneef, during debates on the Anti-Defection Bill.

Saneef, while debating the bill, in today's Parliament session, accused Shahid of winning the MDP presidency through fraudulent means and emphasized the importance of party leaders in fortifying their respective parties.

Moreover, Saneef alleged that Shahid was behind the online newspaper Dhiyavaru, which spread false rumors about him missing a session regarding the postponement of parliamentary elections after Ramadan.

Responding to these allegations, Shahid took to social media to refute the claims, asserting that neither he nor the mentioned newspaper had any involvement in the accusations. He condemned the use of parliamentary privilege to spread falsehoods and tarnish individuals' reputations, labeling such actions as antithetical to democratic principles.

Former Presidential Spokesperson Miuvan also weighed in on Saneef's allegations, denouncing them as untrue. The exchange highlights the tension within the MDP and underscores the importance of transparency and accountability within political discourse.
