The Maldives Ministry of Islamic Affairs has confirmed that Monday, March 11, 2024, will mark the beginning of Ramadan for this year. Following a moon confirmation ceremony, the sighting of the new moon in several islands of the Maldives and other Islamic countries has determined the start of the holy month.

With March 11, declared as the first day of Ramadan, Maldivians prepare for a month-long period of fasting, prayer, and spiritual reflection.

Ramadan holds profound religious and cultural significance, serving as a time for Muslims to deepen their connection with Allah, seek forgiveness, and engage in acts of charity and self-discipline.
