The ruling party Parliamentary group today has stated that they will not allow the current Parliament, which is nearing the end of the term, to proceed with the impeachment of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

Speaking at a press conference held by the PPM and PNC coalition parliamentary group today, Parliament member for the Eydhafushi constituency, Ahmed Saleem made the statement following the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)'s approval to submit a motion to impeach the President from office. For this, Saleem announced that the ruling coalition would not allow the current Parliament to proceed with the impeachment of the President.

Meanwhile, the MDP parliamentary group has passed a motion to impeach the President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu today.

The MDP said that the Party is working with the Democrats to remove President Dr. Muizzu.

The impeachment motion has been signed by 34 MPs, exceeding the required 26 signatures.
