The ruling Congress party has moved a no-confidence motion against the Parliament Speaker Mohamed Aslam and Vice-Speaker Ahmed Salim.

The no-confidence motion against the Speaker and Vice-Speaker of Parliament was signed by 23 MPs, including PPM/PNC coalition MPs, MNP MPs, and MDA MPs.

The no-confidence motion comes as the majority party, the MDP and Democrats, decided not to approve some cabinet ministers.

The four ministers rejected by the MDP parliamentary group were Economic Minister Mohammed Saeed, Housing Minister Dr. Ali Haider, Islamic Minister Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, and Attorney General Ahmed Usham.

While the Democrats rejected the Housing Minister Dr. Ali Haider, Islamic Minister Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, Attorney General Ahmed Usham, and Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer.

Following the rejection during today's Parliamentary session, ruling party PNC members have occupied the floor of parliament, and supporters of the government are protesting outside the parliament.

In addition, clashes broke out in the house, and some members were injured.
