The Maldives exported the most goods to Thailand last month, according to the Maldives Customs Service.

According to customs data, 66 percent of Maldive's exports went to Thailand in December. After Thailand, Maldives exported most goods to the UK.

The UK accounted for 9 percent of Maldive's exports in December. Germany accounted for seven percent of exports, while Switzerland and France accounted for three percent.

Imports stood at MVR 5.1 billion in December last year, a 9 percent decrease compared to December 2022.

China topped the list of importers, while Maldives also imported goods from Oman worth MVR 768 million. According to statistics, Maldives imported goods worth MVR 731 million from Singapore, from India, goods worth MVR 683 million were imported, and goods worth MVR 591 million were imported from the UAE.

The CIF value of imports declined by 9 percent in December 2023 compared to December 2022. Imports of goods in December 2022 stood at MVR 5.6 billion, which fell to MVR 5.1 billion in December last year.

In December 2023, the government's revenue from imported goods decreased by 9 percent compared to December 2022.

Revenue from imports of goods in December 2022 stood at MVR 365 million, and in December last year, revenue stood at MVR 332 million.
