The Ministry of Finance reported that MVR 1.9 billion had been collected from airport development fees and departure taxes until last year.

According to statistics, the government received MVR 983 million in departure tax and MVR 1 billion in airport development fees till last year. This is an 18 percent increase over the 2022 revenue.

The 2023 budget estimates MVR 870.6 million in departure tax and MVR 870.6 million in ADF.

ADF is a fee charged to every passenger departing from Velana International Airport. Departure tax is levied on passengers departing from an airport in the Maldives.

Last year, 1.8 million tourists visited the Maldives.
