Opposition Parliament Member Ahmed Shiyam described Home Minister, Imran Abdullah as a Munafiq.

In Islam, a Munafiq is a person who in public and in community shows that he is a Muslim but rejects Islam or propagate against it either in his heart or among enemies of Islam.

Speaking during the recent Parliament sitting, in regards to the no-confidence motion submitted against Minister Imran, MP Shiyam said that he believes that Minister Imran is knowledgeable but his actions define him as a Munafiq.

Continuing speaking, Shiyam accused Minister Imran for blackmailing MDP Parliamentary Group members to vote to dismiss the motion of no-confidence against him, during the MDP Parliamentary Group meeting. He added that Minister Imran would be very clear about how much of respect, Islam has given to a woman and if MDP Parliament members does not support the motion of no-confidence, it would the most embarrassing day spent at the Parliament.

Opposition MPs submitted a motion of no confidence against the Minister, following the statement he made about the safari rape case. Minister Imran said that what happened on the safari was blown out of context and that the reality was that it was not rape but something minor. The issue was debated at the recent Parliament sitting with the presence of Minister Imran.
