Opportunity open for local students to join in the Junior Astronaut Program by the Canadian Space Agency.

The opportunity for the Maldivian students were given by the Institute for Global Success (IGS) Maldives. The IGS Maldives is an initiative run to promote space science in the Maldives.

The Chairman and the CEO of IGS Maldives, Riffath Mohamed said that the Junior Astronaut Program is targeted for students in grade 7, 8 and 9. This program will also be the first program held under promoting space science in the Maldives. The participants of the Junior Astronaut Program will be joining the United States National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) for further training and experience.

Riffath has said that this program is an initiative to develop Maldivian Astronauts and support students with opportunity to study about space sciences.

The Junior Astronaut Program by the Canadian Space Agency is scheduled to run from 6th December 2020 to 7th January 2021. The program was officially launched in Maldives on Saturday night at a special ceremony that was held at the Youth Centre.
