According to the Ministry of Tourism, more than 800,000 tourists have visited the Maldives in the first five months of this year.

By the end of the month of May, 805,303 tourists arrived in the Maldives. Prior to the Covid-19 outbreak, 749,114 tourists had arrived in the country during the same period.

According to the statistics, during the same period this year, tourist arrivals increased by 15.1 percent compared to the same period last year. The largest number of tourists arrivals so far this year came from Russia, India and the UK.

Statistics show that tourists spend an average of 7.8 days in the country.

The Maldives has set a target of attracting 1.8 million tourists this year.
