North Korea fired what could be a ballistic missile on Saturday, Japan’s military and South Korean military said.

South Korea’s military said North Korea fired a projectile off its east coast, and Yonhap news agency said the military believed it was a ballistic missile.

Japan’s defense ministry also tweeted that the projectile could be a ballistic missile.

This missile seems to be a submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM), which was fired into the sea off its east coast around 0507 GMT on Saturday.

This comes as the South Korean president-elect Yoon Suk-yeol is going to take office in just three days. He has vowed to take a hard stand against the North.

On Wednesday, North Korea fired a ballistic missile toward the sea off its east coast, South Korea and Japan said, after North Korea vowed to develop its nuclear forces “at the fastest possible speed.” The missile was the 14th round of weapons fired by the North.
