President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed his Administration’s commitment to providing equal access to essential services for all islands, regardless of population size.
Speaking to residents of B. Fehendhoo this morning, one of the nation’s least populated islands, he stressed that campaign pledges were made with the intent to be delivered.
The President pledged to resume stalled water and sanitation projects, address teacher shortages in middle and secondary grades through recruitment and training, and enhance health services by expanding the health centre and adding resources over the next two years. Sports and recreation developments will include a full-sized football ground, renovated futsal pitch, new volleyball court, fitness and recreation centre, outdoor gym, and children’s park.
He also promised to improve island access by including jetty construction and coastal protection in next year’s budget. Earlier in the day, President Muizzu inaugurated Bank of Maldives ATM services and attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Fehendhoo Police Station.
