Parliament budget committee finalises the budget report with additional changes brought to the government proposed budget for 2021.

As for the amendments suggested by the Parliament budget committee, the revenue estimated is now increased to 21 billion Rufiyaa, the deficit is now decreased to 12.3 billion Rufiyaa and the total budget is now increased to 34.92 billion Rufiyaa.

Meanwhile, the government had proposed a budget of 34.79 billion Rufiyaa, with a revenue estimated at 17.79 billion Rufiyaa and a deficit amount of 15.50 billion Rufiyaa.

The amendments were brought after revising different projects included in the budget, and budget allocated for government authorities included in the total budget proposed by the government.

Speaking at the Parliament sitting held today, Speaker of the Parliament, Mohamed Nasheed said that the budget report compiled after reviewing the government proposed budget is scheduled to be debated on next Sunday’s Parliament sitting. During the debate, each Parliament member will get 7 minutes to express themselves.
