Parliament Member, Mohamed Saeed falsified the statement by the President, saying that we do not have any revenue generated for the government proposed budget for 2021.

Saeed’s comments comes following the statement by the President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, where he mentioned that the government will continue the planned projects mentioned in the proposed budget and the financial support needed to run these projects have been already generated as revenue.

However, MP Saeed said that, speaking at the Parliament budget committee meeting governor has said that the government has not received any financial support needed to run the projects included in the proposed budget. MP Saeed said that as per governor, to run these projects, the government has to take loans to implement them.

Furthermore, MP Saeed added, this is a good example on that either the government administration has not given proper information to the President, or the President just avoid listening to his administration.

Speaking at the Parliament budget committee meeting, governor has stated that since the government proposed budget involves huge projects conflicting the ongoing financial crisis impacted from the Covid-19 pandemic, if the expected revenue is not generated by the government, it will affect the cash flow management. Hence, the governor has suggested to hold any major projects planned by the government.
