1.49 million tourists have visited the Maldives so far this year, said the Ministry of Tourism.

According to the Ministry of Tourism, a total of 1.49 million tourists have visited the Maldives so far this year. Last year, 1.15 million tourists visited the Maldives during the same period. However, before the Covid-19 outbreak, the figure stood at 1.53 million.

According to Tourism Ministry statistics, a total of 146,879 tourists visited the country last month.

The biggest contributor of tourists to the Maldives is now India, with Russia being the second. The third biggest market is the United Kingdom, followed by Germany and Italy.

Last year, 1.3 million tourists visited the Maldives and the government aims to bring in 1.6 million tourists this year.
