Maldives Elections Commissions records show an increase in the number of members to Jumhoory party in the past year.

After processing the membership forms by the political parties, the election commission has published the latest total number of members in the political parties. As per this, the current governing party, Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) does not show an increase in its members. But opposition party PPM and government coalition party JP has shown a significant increase in the number of members in the past year.



As per the Election Commission of the Maldives, the current governing party, Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) showed having 53,590 members until last year September 30th, but the recent update from the Election Commission showed the number of members dropped to 52,952.

As per the Election Commission of the Maldives, Jumhoory party (JP) showed having 10,158 members until last year September 30th, but the recent update from the Election Commission showed the number of members increased to 13,852.

Election Commission of the Maldives records show, Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM) having 36,801 members until last year September 30th, but the recent update from the Election Commission showed the number of members increased to 37,144.

As per the Election Commission of the Maldives, from the opposition political parties, PNC, Labour Party, MTD and MDA showed a decrease in number of members, while Adhaalath party showed an increase in number with 204 new members.

Currently Maldives has 10 political parties registered.
