President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has inaugurated the first fuel skid in Dhuvaafaru, North Maalhosmadulu, aimed at providing fuel to fishermen at reduced prices. The facility was opened during his visit to the island to mark this year’s Fishermen’s Day.

The initiative addresses longstanding concerns raised by fishermen over fuel availability and affordability and is part of the Government’s efforts to support the fisheries sector. The project, implemented by the State Trading Organisation (STO), is the first of 18 fuel skids planned nationwide, all expected to be operational by March 2026.

During the visit, the President and First Lady will also oversee the launch of new development projects and attend ceremonies marking the completion of existing projects, accompanied by Cabinet Ministers and senior government officials.
