A Palestinian man was killed by Israeli fire on Friday during an Israeli military operation in the northern occupied West Bank, according to Palestinian health officials.
The Palestinian Health Ministry identified the victim as 38-year-old Bahaa Abdel-Rahman Rashid, who was shot in the town of Odala, south of Nablus. The Palestinian Red Crescent said its teams responded to a critical head injury case during clashes in the area.
Local residents said Israeli troops entered the town as worshippers were leaving a mosque after Friday prayers, triggering confrontations. Rashid was hit by live fire during the incident.
The Israeli military said it was reviewing the circumstances surrounding the death.
Tensions and violence in the West Bank have surged since the outbreak of the Gaza war in October 2023, with more than 1,000 Palestinians reported killed by Israeli forces or settlers since then.
