Former President Yameen Abdul Gayoom has criticized President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s administration, saying it lacks wisdom, strategy, and policies accepted by the public. Speaking to youth, Yameen said the government is “only good at talking” and has failed to act on major issues.
He said integrity must begin with the President and extend to the Cabinet, judiciary, and independent institutions. Yameen argued that state institutions are failing in their responsibilities, leaving “no power in the rule of law” and weakening human rights and accountability.
Yameen also criticized the government’s promises, including mass land allocations in Ras Malé, saying dredged land without infrastructure cannot support communities. He further questioned the lack of foreign investment during the past two years of the Muizzu administration.
The former president noted that President Muizzu did not highlight any achievements in his recent second anniversary speech and said he would give the government “20 out of 100” for its performance.
