President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has emphasized that adopting healthy habits from a young age is essential to preventing non-communicable diseases (NCDs). He made the remarks in a message on his official X account to mark World Diabetes Day.

The President highlighted the importance of being mindful of personal health, including diet, physical activity, and daily routines. He noted that discipline and awareness are key to avoiding harmful habits that contribute to diseases such as diabetes. He also expressed appreciation to NGOs and individuals working to raise public awareness on these issues.

President Muizzu further called for renewed commitment to nation-building and a prosperous future, urging Maldivians to remain a healthy population free from preventable diseases.

First Lady Sajidha Mohamed also shared a message on X, stating that building a healthy society in the Maldives requires collective effort. She encouraged citizens to educate themselves on maintaining good health and to integrate healthy habits into their daily lives.

She expressed hope that, through shared commitment, the Maldives can become a nation least affected by NCDs such as diabetes, while emerging as a leader in providing reliable care for those living with such conditions.
