Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusaan has said drug trafficking will no longer be allowed in the Maldives, warning that those involved in the trade will face the strictest action.
Speaking to state media during the nationwide police operation launched, Ihusaan said the government will not provide any concessions in combating drug-related crimes. He noted that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has consistently directed the police to maintain a zero-tolerance approach to drugs.
Ihusaan urged those involved in trafficking to stop immediately, stating that the government will no longer allow such activities in the Maldives and that drug dealers will find it increasingly difficult to operate or live in the country if they continue.
He also called on young people engaged in drug trafficking to leave the trade and pursue alternative paths, adding that the ongoing crackdown will continue until those involved cease their activities.
