President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has emphasized that patriotism must take precedence over political affiliations, highlighting that national interest should outweigh political differences. He made these remarks during his visit to N. Velidhoo as part of his ongoing tour of the inhabited islands of South Miladhunmadulu Atoll.
In his address to residents, the President called on elected officials to support the government’s development agenda, stating that the success of such initiatives relies heavily on the cooperation of Members of Parliament and Councillors. He stressed that political allegiances should not hinder the responsibilities of public office.
President Muizzu further stated that genuine patriotism involves prioritizing the country’s well-being above individual interests. He noted that the long-term dignity and stability of the Maldives can only be secured through a renewed commitment to national unity and a shared patriotic spirit.
He concluded by affirming that patriotism must be the foundation upon which the nation’s true development is built.
